Fix to school traffic issue

First off I would like to say I know there is a problem at Southeast Elementary here in Sikeston with the dropping off and picking up of the students, because I am one of those parents that has a child that goes to that school. The cones that have been placed out on Ables Road are an accident waiting to happen. I have figured out a better way to let the parents know where not to park while waiting to drop off or pick up their child or children. Place a yellow box where the cones are placed and place x’s inside the box’s. Also put up signs that say “no parking at any time.” Then have the police come by during the times when parents are parking and if someone is parked in the “YELLOW NO PARKING ZONE” give them a ticket and this just might stop them from blocking the vision of the side traffic trying to get on Ables Road. Also this should be done at all the schools in Sikeston.

When is Sikeston school out?

Tried to get dates of days Sikeston schools are out. Nothing is posted and can’t get an answer. Why can’t parents get this information?

The Sikeston school calendar can be easily found by going to the Sikeston R-6 website at sikestonr6.org.

City leaders get their way

Sikeston city closed all offices this week because 11 percent of the employees have COVID. I guess the city employees have earned their freedom from vaccine and masks. That’s what our city leaders apparently want.

New mail carrier needed

The post office doesn’t need new mail trucks, they need new mail carriers that know how to read. Ask anyone in Miner they will tell you the same thing. They never put the mail in the right mail box. One day I got four different peoples mail in my box. Another day I get a letter from someone to a woman in Dexter. It’s not just one or two times. It happens almost daily. And don’t think just because someone gets your mail they will put it back in the box – they don’t. Just because you don’t get that bill that your neighbor tore up and threw in the trash doesn’t mean it’s not due. We’ve called the post office many times and it has done no good. You just have to keep up with your bills and know then their due. If you don’t get them when you’re supposed to you have to call them.

East Prairie has pandemic

You need to send your reporter over here to East Prairie and ask city council what’s going to happen over here with the pandemic going on. Over 300 people has COVID-19? You call up there and you don’t get no answer. They don’t answer your questions or nothing. Maybe a reporter can find out what’s going on over here in East Prairie. We’ve got a pandemic going on. It’s bad. Real bad.

Not sure where you are getting the 300 people. In all of Mississippi County when this call was receive, the health department was only reporting 154 active cases in the entire county.
