JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Martha Jean Mason, 82, of Jacksonville passed away at her home on Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, after a prolonged illness.

Martha Mason was born the third of four children in Bradford, Arkansas, to Robert and Jewel Holloway on Oct. 15, 1939. She was known to many as Martha or Jean but to family she was Marty. After high school, she briefly attended Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois.

On Oct. 24, 1959, she married John W. Mason Jr. in Sikeston. Although she grew up in Sikeston, she has been a longtime resident of Jacksonville.

Preceding her in death is her husband of 49 years, John W. Mason Jr., her parents, Robert and Jewel Holloway; her siblings, Bill Holloway, Linda Simmons, Sandy Graham; and one son, Richard A. Mason.

Marty is survived by two sons and one daughter. She also has four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was loved and respected by everyone she met and will be deeply missed.

Interment services will be held at the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
