Kindness – Pass it on

After a horrible weekend, I went shopping at the Dollar Tree where currently all items are $1. Standing in the checkout lane to pay for the items in my cart, the woman behind pointed out to the cashier she had not rung up my candy bar. Since I was ready to leave, I just told her to just forget it and she put it back. The lady behind me, no I don’t know her name, told the cashier to ring up the candy bar along with the items she was purchasing and to hand the candy bar to me. I was shocked and surprised and so pleased a stranger had done this for me. I thanked her, took the candy bar and gave her a hug and another thank you. I had had a bad week where a motorist in Sikeston, where I have lived for many years, ran a red light and hit me in my car. I reminded myself there are really good people who live here. To the lady who bought me a candy bar, again a big thank you for your kindness you showed to someone you did not know.

Kindness – Above and beyond

During the summer, just past dark, a package was delivered to my house. The person who delivered the package left it on my front door and also left the gate to my fenced in yard ajar. When I let my miniature Schnauzer out in the yard, he, of course, found it right away and went out the gate and was in my neighbor’s yard where a car had stopped. The man had him by the collar and I saw this and even in the darkness I recognized my little dog’s silhouette and yelled “he’s mine, hold him for me” and they did. The couple said they saw a little dog and stopped him and saw the tag and knew he belonged to someone who loved him. He even offered to carry him home for me but I had brought his leash. I thanked him and his wife profusely for saving my little dog. If they had not, I might have lost him. It would have been horrific for him and me. He was a rescue dog and lived in the streets of Memphis for possibly three years. Now I have the honor of caring for and loving him – my own little dandelion.
