Thank you courts

Hello America. Hello southeast Missouri. What a beautiful day. The court system sure has everybody in the United States all riled up. You know what folks, this Roe v. Wade, I’m pro choice. Why don’t these people be for both sides? These women on both sides. It’s not a religious thing. Why don’t you take care of both sides instead of your ego and whatever that’s involved with this decision. But I’m pro choice. Bring it to them. Thank you courts. Have a good day.

We can do better

I do believe the public is well served when a newspaper provides free space to state and federal lawmakers to address current affairs and state what they like to accomplish and what they oppose. Along with the facts that cause them to believe their position is correct with true facts on both sides so that the public can benefit by the argument. I tried to read our US Congressman Jason Smith’s column each week. I’ve never read one he did not use as a negative campaign piece to sling mud to those he believes are his adversaries. The negative and disinformation he dispenses, mixed with lots of hate are not American, or Christian, I believe. It is no wonder the standing of Congress is as low as it is with people like him as its members. But perhaps he is merely a reflection of us, the people who allow folks like him to represent us. After all it is said that a politician is a true reflection of the people they represent. We can do better.
