Winter weather advisory in effect from 6 pm. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday for entire region

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29 to 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30 in Southeast Missouri including Scott, New Madrid, Mississippi and Stoddard Counties, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky.

Freezing drizzle is expected with total ice accumulations of a light glaze up to one-tenth of an inch for Southeast Missouri Southern Illinois, Southwest Indiana and Western Kentucky, the Weather Service said.

Difficult travel conditions are possible, especially on bridges, overpasses and sidewalks. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute, the Weather Service said.

Freezing drizzle will begin in the Ozark foothills of Southeast Missouri Sunday night, then spread eastward overnight, reaching the Ohio River during the predawn hours Monday morning.

The Weather Service said motorists should slow down and use caution while traveling.
