Richland seventh grader Sharon Blankenship presents State Rep. Doug Libla with her painting chosen for the 2018 Children's Art Festival of Southeast Missouri during Citizen's Day recently at the Missouri Capital Building in Jefferson City. Blankenship's painting was selected by the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri to hang in the representative's office for the next year. The painting was selected by the council from artwork submitted by 28 different schools by students between third and eighth grades.

On Feb. 23, the Portageville FFA hosted a petting zoo for youngsters as part of their National FFA Week celebration. The week is a time for FFA members to host activities that raise awareness about the role the National FFA Organization plays in the development of agriculture's future leaders and the importance of agriculture education. Also during the week the students displayed tractors in front of school and conducted a food for America program.
