Student in custody following NMC R-1 middle school threats

NEW MADRID, Mo. — A student is in custody of juvenile authorities following an investigation into alleged threats made against New Madrid County R-1 Central Middle School. About 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, New Madrid County R-1 Superintendent Dr. Sam Duncan took to the district’s official Facebook page to inform parents and community members of the situation. “We have been made aware of an Instagram post describing a potential threat tomorrow at CMS,” Duncan said via the Facebook post. “Thanks to everyone who has shared this information with us. We take everything of this nature with all seriousness.”
