Your view: Saying thank you

Friday, March 19, 2004

I wish to express my gratitude to your newspaper, the Big Prairie Jaycees, the Matthews community and to the many friends who contributed to the success of the benefit given in my honor on Feb. 26 at the Matthews Community Building.

Due to the complimentary article that you published and the awesome generosity of everyone who planned, prepared, served, cleaned and donated, I have been able to meet my medical expenses as of this date.

Having lived in the Matthews area all my life, I was not surprised that so many people worked so well together to achieve a common goal. The community has a long history of giving and helping both individuals and organizations.

Giving credit where it is truly due, I know that God not only orchestrated the event but happily watched as His plans were carried out. And, although this benefit was intended to be "payback" for my years of community service, I feel that I have some "paying back" of my own to do in the future.

Thank you so much to Ann Porter and Debbie Grimes, Big Prairie Jaycees, Matthews community, Jill Bock, the Standard Democrat and my many friends in Southeast Missouri.

You made my night a once-in-a-lifetime event.

In gratitude,

Cathey Daniels
