CHAFFEE -- Andy L. Halter Sr., 85, died at 12:15 p.m. at the Chaffee Nursing Center.

Born Nov. 30, 1919, in Scott County, son of the late Frank and Rose Glastetter Halter, he retired in 1998 as a foreman for the Little River Drainage District in Cape Girardeau County. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the 84th Infantry Division during World War II.

On May 17, 1941, he married Thresa I. Tucker who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Andy Halter Jr. of Sikeston and Mike Halter of Ste. Genevieve; one daughter, Judy Tankersley of Delta; two sisters, Cornela Jones of Cairo, Ill., and Irene Baker of Mounds, Ill.; and six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

One brother, one sister and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.

Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Patrick Tankersley officiating.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.

Pallbearers will be: Kevin Halter, Gary Dysinger, Keith Cook, Billy Baker, Gage Bowers and Jeremiah Cook.
