Expo will provide insights

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate a few of our manufacturing members: Tetra Pak, Cott Beverage, Alan Wire and Good Humor-Breyer on their product line expansions. Your outstanding performance continues to pay off not only for your own business, but for the Sikeston area.

The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce has a lot going on this month. On Thursday, Feb. 19, we will be hosting the Ninth Annual Business and Education Expo at the Sikeston High School Fieldhouse from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Expo is open to the public.

Exhibitors scheduled so far include: Manpower Inc., Steward Steel, DeWitt Company, Health Facilities Rehab, Semo.Net, ESI, U.S. Bank, First Security State Bank, Missouri Career Center, Missouri Army National Guard, ITT Technical Institute, Kenny Rogers Children's Center, Southeast Missouri State University, Zimmer Radio, YMCA, Mission Missouri, Shawnee Community College, KBXB and KRHW Radio, Metro Business College, Three Rivers Community College, Noranda Aluminum, Truman State University, the First National Bank, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, SEMO Health Network and the Army. We have additional exhibitors signing up every day.

The High School Student Chamber of Commerce will put on "Dress for Success" skits throughout the day and will be running the concession stand during lunch. Admission is free and the public is encouraged to attend. If you are in the job market or just want to see the different products made in Southeast Missouri come on out to the Expo.

SACC is happy to once again sponsor the Winter Princess Pageants scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Albritton-Mayer Cultural Center. This is a preliminary for the Miss Missouri and Miss America. Contestants come from throughout Missouri to participate. Scholarships are awarded the winners. The public is encouraged to attend and cheer the contestants on.

Finally, I would like to congratulate our January SACC Spirit Award winners. In the Business category, the YMCA of Southeast Missouri was the winner and in the residential category, the Dempsey family on Larkspur.
