SIKESTON - Fire of undetermined origin on New Year's Eve destroyed a large modern home of Mrs. Roy L. Williams on at the old Wyatt road with the loss estimated at from $45,000 to $60,000.

SIKESTON - Sweeping to their seventh straight victory of the season, the Sikeston Bulldogs thumped the visiting Kennett Indians 65-47 in a SeMo Conference game at Sikeston's Armory Saturday night behind the hot shooting for forward Ken Davis and guard Larry McClellon.

SIKESTON - Gov. Bond's withholding of $14,051,789 from the 1984 Foundation Program translates to a reduction of $84,042 in state funds to Sikeston during this school year.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Public School system is one of four in Southeast Missouri to participate in the Delta Teachers Academy. In 1992, with funds from the U.S. Department of Education, The National Faculty established an academy to provide academic and professional development for elementary and secondary teachers in the seven-state region of the Lower Mississippi Delta. The academy focuses on the subject areas of English, history, geography, science and mathematics.


SIKESTON - Planning is under way for the 1994 Monopoly tournament. According to Kevin Wibbenmeyer, the 1993 tournament winner and this year's honorary chairman, and Sikeston Optimist General Chairman David Elsey, fund-raising kits for this year's tournament are now being distributed.
