Lorraine Whitmore

DEXTER - Lorraine Whitmore, 85, died April 9, 2004, at Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Nov. 20, 1918, at Snohomish, Wash., daughter of the late Harry and Martha Newton Salter, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, member and former president of the United Methodist Women, and member of the Thimble Club and the Pinochocle Club in Dexter. Before retiring, she had been a buyer and sales clerk for Lois' House of Fashion.

On Sept. 17, 1939, at Ottumwa, Iowa, she married Walter A. Whitmore who preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1999.

Survivors include: two daughters, Carol White of Dexter and Mary Jane Banken of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Gorden Salter of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Arlene Brown and Shirley Brinsfield of Adelphi, Md.; and five grandchildren.

Two brothers, Jack Salter and Leroy Salter, also preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Monday until service time at 1 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Revs. Fred Leist and Roy Sherfield will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery.
