James doubles up at Malden Speedway

MALDEN - Sikeston resident racked up two feature wins last Friday night (Aug. 5) at Malden Speedway. James visited victory lane in his dirt late model and also scored the win as a hired gun for Charles Morrisett's 54a hobby stock car.

In the 30-lap late model feature event at Malden, James battled with Benton racer Joey Mack and Charleston driver Todd Hall early in the event before taking the lead for good on lap 14. James would lead the final 16 circuits to pick up his seventh win at the speedway in his seventh trip to the track. The win notched his 16th visit to victory lane on the season in Late Models.

In Hobby Stock action James jumped from his second row starting position to take over the lead by the end of the first lap. Doug Moore and Claudie Cook trailed behind James but never challenged for the lead. The win was James' first Hobby Stock win at Malden Speedway, adding to his resume that includes wins in Street Stock, Super Street and Late Models, making him one of the most prolific drivers at the Malden track.

In recent action James scored a 14th place finish against the nations top late model drivers in the 60-lap event for the Stacker 2 World of Outlaws Late Models at Memphis Motorsports Park on July 22. The 5jr team backed the 14th place run up by winning the next night July 23 at Poplar Bluff Speedway.

The former Malden Speedway track Champion picked up his 15th win at the track on July 29th and the next night finished second to MARS Series regular Steve Rushin at Poplar Bluff Speedway.

The racing events scheduled for Poplar Bluff Speedway on August 6 were cancelled due to weather.
