Speakout 1/7

Friday, January 7, 2005

Michael, I liked the articles you had in the paper on Dec. 23 and 24. Very good! Also, I liked your columns on Dec. 24 and 30. Also, the paper carrier did a good job during the bad weather in Blodgett.

I just want to know if you can find out. This is Tuesday night (Dec. 28). When are East Prairie's city hall guys going to get our trash company back over here picking up our trash. It has been two weeks now since we have had our trash picked up. Are we going to get a credit on our bill or not?

CWI in Kentucky provides trash pickup for East Prairie and were unable to pick up due to bad weather. Everyone's trash that was set out was picked up by Jan. 1. As far as billing, the city is billed monthly and is still obligated to pay the company. The company considered safety as a priority during the inclement weather. After the ice and snow thawed, they then had to deal with saturated ground. The service was completed, just not on time because of the weather.

Thank you for stating you will continue to print Dave Barry's columns even though he won't be writing anymore "fresh" ones! I love them! And without you guys including them in your lovely newspaper, I wouldn't be able to read them. Thank you! I look forward to reading his old ones (but still great!) in the newspaper. Everyone needs to laugh.

I read that, back in 1985, Jack Danforth stated that the number one issue facing Missouri and the nation was the federal deficit. Boy, I wonder what he thinks of the current deficit, the Republican deficit. I wish he would speak up now and maybe influence his fellow party members to practice good, conservative fiscal policies and stop spending the taxpayers' money like a bunch of drunken sailors.

Thanks to some idiot on Taylor Street who called the cops because of a couple of pops, we are now being overrun by blackbirds. Some people are so stupid.

Shame, shame, shame! You should be ashamed for the lack of appreciation you gave to everyone except the office personnel during Christmas. You have some devoted workers and all we got was a frozen cheesecake - very tacky. The office personnel don't deserve what they got for Christmas.
