SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Lewis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Nov. 7 with a dinner at their home.

SIKESTON - Construction continued today on a five-block 15-inch and 12-

inch storm sewer project on Olive Street from Kendall to Daniel.


SIKESTON - A 30-30-caliber lever action Winchester rifle, valued at $85, was reported stolen from Homestead Distributing Company, 1401 E. Malone.


SIKESTON - Area residents who have a son, daughter or husband in Vietnam, have a chance to make a free telephone call to that party during Christmas season.

ADVANCE - Over 600 people, all volunteers, assisted in the completion of the new Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Construction began on the building Nov. 6 and was completed Nov. 8. The first meeting in the 3,300-

square-foot building was conducted at that time.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Area Higher Education Center board members, Southeast Missouri State University and Three River Community College held a final planning meeting for the center. The school will have an open house Jan. 6 with sign up for classes on Jan. 14. The first day of class is set for Jan. 20.


CHARLESTON - As Charleston City Manager Dave Brewer popped the cork on a bottle of sparkling apple cider, IDA Director Betty Hearnes announced at 10 a.m. today that Charleston is the home of the Missouri's newest state prison.


SIKESTON - Semo Dental finished with a perfect 8-0 record this season in Youth Soccer. Head coach was Andy Vanover, assistant coach was Earl Bohnert.
