JACKSON - The Sikeston girls basketball team ran into a powerful Jackson team on Monday, falling 78-31 to the state ranked Lady Indians.

Sikeston trailed 31-16 at the half and had the lead down to eight points in the third quarter before seeing Jackson go on a huge run to end the game.

"We came out pretty calm in the first half and did decent against their tough defense," said Sikeston coach Tiffany King. "At halftime we were only down a few and cut it down to eight in the third quarter. But with a powerhouse like Jackson it's tough to compete against the bigger, taller, stronger girls. It's a well-developed program."

Sikeston's Martika Davis led the way with 14 points. Amber Minner had 10 points and Allison Blurton followed up with seven points.

Sikeston (9-13) will host Charleston on Thursday at 6 p.m.

BENTON - Kelly trailed by only eight points to Class 5 Poplar Bluff (16-5) at halftime before bowing out in the second half at home.
