Mattie Thompson

LILBOURN -- Mattie Thompson, 92, died June 27, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in New Madrid.

Born May 8, 1913, in Bristol, Va., daughter of the late J.C. and Etta L. Hunter, she was a member of the Catron Baptist Church and had owned and operated Mattie's Package in Catron for many years before retiring.

She was married to Albert Thompson, who preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1962.

Jearl Lawrence, whom she raised as her own son, survives of Lilbourn.

One son, Albert Ray Thompson, preceded her in death.

Visitation is from 9 a.m. Wednesday until time for services at 10 a.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Lilbourn. The Rev. Bill Reid, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Lilbourn, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Ark.
