O'FALLON, Ill. -- Helen Hamman, 94, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Aug. 30, 2005, at O'Fallon Health Care and Rehab in O'Fallon.

Born July 21, 1911, in Sikeston, daughter of the late James Washington and Essie Waldman Baker, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston for over 50 years. She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and was an elementary school teacher in Sikeston and Lilbourn, Mo., before retiring.

On Feb. 12, 1946, she married Homer "Bo" Hamman, who preceded her in death on April 25, 1993.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Viviano of O'Fallon; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Dolan Dalpoas of Lincoln and Robert M. Blackston of Naperville; and two great-grandchildren, Joseph Eli and Louis Anthony Dalpoas of Lincoln.

In addition to her husband and parents, four sisters preceded her in death.

Visitation was from 9 a.m. today until time for services at 11 a.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Jonathan Cooney, associate pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated.

Burial followed in the Mounds Park Cemetery at Lilbourn.

Pallbearers were: John Viviano, Robert M. Blackston, Dolan Dolpoas, Kenneth Ellison, Jane Anne Baker and Shelly Williams.
