Speakout 10/9

Tuesday, October 9, 2007

To the person that said the police department has nothing better to do but stop someone for that person to do a marriage proposal. Do you even pay taxes? If you do, I bet it's not much. I know the officer would like a big raise because you pay so much taxes. Restaurant managers make more than police officers. They put there lives on the line everyday so you can sleep at night. So the next time you call the police, remember what you said in this article. Because I think the officers in East Prairie do a good job. I think what you wrote is *&%#. So when you see the officers and the man that he stopped, tell them how you feel.

This is in response to the letter to the editor from Holli Wrice thanking "concerned citizens" from this area who traveled to Louisiana to show their support for the thugs now known as the Jena 6. Once again the black community is showing that they are not interested in ending racism but only in ending white racism against blacks. Black racism against whites is stronger today than ever and this "show of support" is yet another entry into a long list of examples. Why on earth would you support these cowardly, blood thirsty youth? Simply because they are black? If it had been six white youths who beat a black kid down and kicked his unconscious body, the very same black leaders and activist groups who are crying foul now would have demanded the prosecutor to file attempted murder charges. If it had been six white kids who assaulted another white kid or six black kids facing charges for beating a black kid, the black community wouldn't have even noticed. But if an incident involves a black person and a white person, the black community will back the black person no matter how wrong they are. This, Miss Wrice, is racism. You wrote that taking time to show support for these thugs is "what coming together is all about." Like those six hoodlums who "came together" to beat down 17-year-old Justin Barker. The Jena 6 weren't charged with attempted murder because they were black. They were charged with attempted murder because an assault by multiple attackers is a lethal attack. They were charged with attempted murder because they repeatedly kicked Barker's unconscious body as he lay helpless on the ground. Whatever Barker did wrong, the attack was not justified. Do you know what it is called when a mob takes justice into their own hands? It is called lynching. Ironic, isn't it? As columnist/cartoonist Ted Rall pointed out, "Six against one isn't a schoolyard fight. ... Fights are one on one. Six on one is attempted murder. Kicking someone after they've passed out is attempted murder. Nothing Barker said, no matter how foul, can justify such a vicious assault." What do you really stand for? What are you really supporting? The right for black people to form mobs and lynch white people who insult them? I wish to God I could sign my name to this letter but you would undoubtedly brand me as a racist. But I am no racist. Dr. Martin Luther King's great dream included the hope that people would "not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." What kind of character have the Jena 6 displayed? I judge people by their actions, not the color of their skin. If the "black community" could learn to do the same instead of just giving lip-service to MLK's ideals, we might truly see his dream become a reality. Sign me, Not a White Panther, just a color-blind American

I'm calling to notify persons they are being watched. I do have their license numbers at this time. It's a late model Dodge pickup, extended cab, red. Also a mid 90s Mustang. I've watched these vehicles several times in excess of 80 mph on 62 between Miner and Bertrand. The next time I see this happen, your license numbers will be turned into the Highway Patrol.
