Speakout 2/6

Friday, February 6, 2004

The person who keeps insulting farmers with snide remarks, do they ever think about the groceries they buy in the store? Farmers grow them too and they produce the products that help make some of the clothes you wear and the shoes on your feet.

I heard about some good news for farmers on KFVS. They said some company is going to build a huge ethanol plant in the industrial park in Cape County. That's good news for the farmers. It will help barge lines too for transport. Things are sounding good around here. I heard that Mexico is going to give the Sikeston box car factory on East Malone more business. Folks, wake up and join the hooray! Looks like John Kerry has triggered off a blast here in Southeast Missouri. We've been needing this for a long time.

I'm sure that the Standard is more informed than most about all things, my concern being a computer virus. Why is it that these idiots cannot be tracked back to their computers? Can they being doing something of such magnitude from a library? Is it a matter of what country they reside in? How can this continue to happen this often without prosecution?

On the corner of South Kingshighway and Helen streets, there is an advertisement sign tied to the stop sign and light post. It stretches across the sidewalk. You can't stay on the sidewalk when walking and if you're driving, you can't see north and also can't see on Helen Street. Is this legal?

Call the Sikeston Department of Public Safety at 471-4711.

Did you lose something at Wal-Mart on Jan. 25? If you did, call 380-5660 and describe the lost item.

To the SpeakOut caller blasting Tony Heckemeyer, you don't have a clue what you're talking about. I've paid attention because I'm pro-choice and he ain't - no way, no how. He does not believe in an exception for abortion, even in rape. You can ask JoAnn Emerson or Jim Talent and they will say they are against abortion except in certain circumstances. Not Mr. Heckemeyer. He says to just forget the life of the mother; the baby didn't do anything wrong. You should listen to his show. It sounds like you've just become a nut and like it.

I'm calling about the Tony Heckemeyer controversy in the paper. I don't know about Tony and his views on abortion, but my family and I were quite shocked when we went to see George Bush in Scott City in the late 1990s when he was campaigning in Southeast Missouri and said he allows for three types of abortion: rape, incest and for the life of the mother.

Judge Heckemeyer doesn't talk one way or the other about gun control on his radio show. I wish he would. He says he already can carry his gun so he won't say much. He assumes that if the sheriff needs to keep the record on gun purchases more than 24 hours so they can track criminals, then we should keep the records longer. I guess that's OK with me. He said he owned a gun store here in Sikeston, but I didn't live here then.

I am a regular customer of the Market Place. There is a young man who works there named Shawn. I like him so much but I haven't seen him around lately. Is he still working there. He is such a nice guy. He made Market Place a nice place to shop. Mike, the manager is also nice. But Shawn is a nice guy and may God bless you wherever you go.

This is to the dumb SOB who calls himself Santa. First of all, Santa only comes once a year, but you're too dumb to know that. You are just a jealous old sorehead putting your stupid remarks in SpeakOut every time they will take your call. You probably draw every kind of check you can get but are still not satisfied. You are dumb, stupid and greedy. And for the turnips, beans and potatoes, you can stick them where the sun don't shine because something good never hurts no one. We farmers can manager for ourselves. Thank you, dummy.

To the person who said Mr. Jensen hates, I'd like you to know Mr. Jensen does not hate anyone. He has so much love in his heart and I don't appreciate hearing this from people who don't even know him. He is a very nice person and is a friend of mine.
