Interstate closed due to overturned truck
Thursday, January 29, 2004
As a hazardous materials clean-up and containment crew from the Department of Natural Resources worked to remove fuel from an overturned tanker, southbound traffic along Interstate 55 had to be diverted for seven hours Wednesday. The work at the accident site in New Madrid County at the 39 mile marker, required the lane closure from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., due to a fuel leak coming from the vehicle's tanker. In the background can be seen the southbound traffic which was diverted to Highway 61. The driver was transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston with undisclosed injuries.
