CLARKTON - Risco's basketball season came to an end on Monday night in the Class 1, District 1 Tournament in Clarkton. Risco, seeded fifth, lost to Delta C-7 52-41 in the first round of the tournament.

Delta C-7 moves on to the semifinals where they will play top-seeded Scott County Central on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Scott Central defeated No. 8 seed Cooter 78-32.

In Risco's game, Delta C-7 broke a 12-12 first quarter tie and led 29-19 at the half.

Risco (9-15) couldn't overcome it as they never got closer than six the rest of the way.

"I thought we played pretty well except for the second quarter," said Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship. "That was really the difference in the ballgame. We battled back and got as close as six in the fourth but we ran out of gas."

Darren Martin led Risco with 14 points. Andrew Halford added 13 points. Kyle Carlisle, Risco's leading scorer, had zero points.

Blankenship said Carlisle was playing with an injured wrist stemming from last Friday's game against Zalma, which affected his outside shooting.

"Delta C-7 sat back in that zone," said Blankenship. "We couldn't get them out of it because we couldn't hit the outside shot like we needed to. I'm proud of my seniors. They're a good group to work with but we just didn't get it done. Delta C-7 doesn't have a lot of size but they're scrappy and they have a few kids that can score."

Delta C-7 was led by Chris Berry and Cody Pinkins with 15 points apiece.

In Scott Central's victory, senior forward Chris Pullen finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and five blocked shots. No other information was available at press time.
