DEXTER -- Robert Warren Blankenship, 79, died May 2, 2005, at his home.

Born Oct. 8, 1925, in Dexter, son of the late Dale and Myrtle Minton Blankenship, he was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was active in the banking business. He retired from Union Planters in 1990. A U.S. Army veteran of World War, he was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks Lodge in Dexter, past president of the Dexter Chamber of Commerce, former member of the Rotary Club and served on the Dexter Hospital Board.

On Dec. 19, 1947, in Dexter, he married Mary Ellen Robinson who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Warren and Kaye Blankenship and Robert Scott and Jana Blankenship of Dexter; one brother, Dr. Dale Minton Blankenship of Savannah, Ga.; and four grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Wednesday until time for services at 2 p.m. at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Vaughn Wright will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
