John W. Wood

DEXTER - John W. Wood, 67, died April 19, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

Born Sept. 19, 1937, at Marston to the late Carl and Clara Ruth Holland Wood, he was a resident of Southeast Missouri his entire life and resided in Dexter for the past 46 years. The owner and operator of Concrete Construction company, he was a member of the New Bethel General Baptist Church.

On July 3, 1959, in Essex, he married Nancy Sitz, who survives.

Also surviving are: two sons, Steve Wood of Bloomfield and David Wood of Dexter; one brother, Tom Wood of Bloomfield; one sister, Carlotta Mace of East Moline, Ill.; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Katie Wood, one brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday. Buddy Heaton of Bloomfield will officiate.

Burial will be in the Essex Cemetery.
