SCOTT CITY - The Sikeston eighth grade volleyball team defeated Scott City on Tuesday in three sets, 24-26, 25-21, 25-9.

Sikeston (2-2) got a strong serving night from four girls: Megan Forrester (15-15, 8 aces), Alex Fowler (14-15, 2 aces), Keyarra Blissett (16-18, 4 aces) and Janesha Tate (11-14, 5 aces).

Fowler also had seven kills followed by Blissett's five kills. Ariel Reynolds (3), Casey Palmer (2), Tate (1) and Forrester (3) also had kills.

"I'm proud of the girls for sticking with the gameplan," said Sikeston coach Steve Beydler. "Early on they let Scott City dictate how the game was going to be played, but they started pulling it together in the second game and that motivated them for the third game."

Sikeston's seventh grade team lost 17-25, 17-25 to Scott City to fall to 0-4 on the season.

Sikeston will play at Bell City on Monday at 6 p.m.
