EAST PRAIRIE -- Nancy Janet Brooks, 69, died at 6:17 a.m. Nov. 7, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born May 17, 1938, in Algora, Ark., to the late James Fred and Roxia Murrial Cannon Cogdill, she lived most of her life in Mississippi County. For 22 years she worked as a certified nursing assistant in area nursing centers and was of the Baptist belief.

On May 7, 1959, she married Norman Lee Brooks who preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2003.

Three brothers, Bud Cogdill, James Cogdill and Leslie Cogdill, and two sisters, Helen Mildred Cogdill and Mary Katherine Cogdill, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, William Earl Brooks of East Prairie; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura Ann and Scottie Owens of East Prairie; one brother, Obrey Cogdill of East Prairie; one sister, Laverne Kimbrell of Radcliff, Ky.; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled at 6 p.m. Friday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday with Ernest Brown officiating.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Freddie Portwood, Raymond Ellis, Coy Redfering, Scottie Owens, Ricky Parker and Paul Martin.
