Evelyn Richardson

SIKESTON -- Evelyn Louise Richardson, 80, died June 11, 2005, at Beverly Health Care in New Madrid.

Born Oct. 9, 1924, in Birmingham, Ala., daughter of the late Lee and Frances Young Beard, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston. She worked for the Missouri State Division of Family Services, where she was the director of the Division of Aging until her retirement.

On March 7, 1946, in Pine Bluff, Ark., she married Joseph Walter Richardson who preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1965.

One son, PFC Ronald Ronnie D. Richardson, also preceded her in death on May 8, 1968, in Vietnam.

Survivors include: two daughters, Justa Ann Underwood of Portageville and Paula Kay Richardson of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Josh Underwood and Drew Underwood of Portageville; two special grandchildren, Luke Geneman and Shelby Geneman of Ozark; and her extended family at the Beverly Health Care Center in New Madrid.

She was known as "Granny" to the those who loved and knew her.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at the DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Bob Kespheler will officiate.

Pallbearers will be: Ken Call, Albert Hitchcock, Craig Gentleman, Josh Underwood, Drew Underwood and Don Day.

Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery.
