SIKESTON - Sheriff Early Malcolm announced that he filed for re-election as sheriff subject to the will of Democratic votes to the primary election in August.


SIKESTON - John Moll, son of Mr. and Mrs. Birch Moll, left last week for Carondale, Ill., where he will enroll for the spring term in the Illinois Teachers College.

SIKESTON - Louis Wiggins filed with City Clerk John Vaughn yesterday for the one-year city council post to be voted on in the April 2 election.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston City Council Monday night established two-hour parking in downtown Sikeston and approved a request for construction of a storage building at the Sikeston Little League field.


NEW MADRID - The city of New Madrid has received a grant for $108,120 to help fund improvements for a new industry.


SIKESTON - Robert Ward, a shuttle pay-load specialist with a program at McDonnell-Douglas Astronautics Co. was in Sikeston Monday to talk with the students in the schools.

March 9, 1998

SIKESTON - Heritage American Homes L.P. celebrated the completion of the 100th home built at the Sikeston plant on Wakefield Road earlier this week. The home was shipped to Coachman Homes in Columbia. It took the 167 employees of the company four and a half months to make the 100th home.


SIKESTON - Penny Marks is the March 1998 Employee of the Month at Ferguson Medical Group.


SIKESTON - Jackie Cecil, manager of the Cape Girardeau Division of Employment Security Office, retired Feb. 27 after nearly 36 years with the state.
