Louella Dowdy

SIKESTON - Louella Dowdy, 90, formerly of East Prairie, died at 3:05 p.m. March 23, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Oct. 19, 1915, in Steele, daughter of the late Phines King and Grace Goodwin, she was of the Baptist belief.

On Sept. 23, 1939, she married James Thomas Dowdy who preceded her in death on July 5, 1991.

She was also preceded in death by six sons, Jimmy Jo Dowdy, Bill Gene Dowdy Sr., Gary Dale Dowdy, William Dowdy, Larry Dowdy and Travis Marvin Dowdy; one daughter, Patti Britt; one brother, Wilbert Goodwin; one sister, Ola Little; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Rita Dowdy of East Prairie; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruby and Billy George of Sikeston; one brother, Wilbur Goodwin, address unknown; and 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. George White will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
