Speakout 1/30

Monday, January 30, 2006

I would like to make a comment on this young girl that was supposed to die today over in Bin Laden's country. Well, I'd like to say to President Bush and Rice, first you said you were gonna bring all our troops home and safely. I hate to differ. You are bringing them home all right, but you are bringing them home in body bags, which is a lie. And another thing, there has to be a way to save that young girl's life from Bin Laden's torture and chaos that he is putting that young girl through. There has to be a way that President Bush and Dick Cheney can get her away from him. As far as Bin Laden coming over here in this country. Well, I'll tell you about Bin Laden. He better keep his butt out of America, because we won't put up with his b.s. He's nothing but a coward. And this is also to the people who stepped on the American flag and stomped on it. If you don't like America and you don't like the American flag, why don't you go over there and live with Bin Laden? He don't like America either, and frankly, I'd like to take you fanatics that stomped on the American flag and blow your brains out. You're not Americans, you are a bunch of stupid idiots. It would be my pleasure to meet you face to face, sucker.

I know this is SpeakOut, but my dog is lost. They read this more than they do a missing ad. His name is Jake and he's been gone a couple of weeks. He was lost on Highway NN by Charleston. He has a broken canine on his bottom left, last seen with an orange collar. Contact 683-0437 any time of the day or night. He's a chocolate lab.

I would like to speak out regarding the person who called about teachers and thinks that all they do is eat candy and drink sodas all day. I've been teaching for 14 years plus, and I don't know any teacher in my school that has time to do those things. I would like for anyone who feels that teachers are lazy to make an appointment with their local school and spend the day with a teacher. I've always thought before you judge a person that you need to walk a mile in their shoes, and you might feel differently. I'm sure people would have a whole new appreciation of teachers and law enforcement officers and other occupations and maybe have their eyes opened a little bit if they would take the time to see what they actually do in a day. Sometimes we only realize what people do when we've had a firsthand experience in watching them teach. I chose teaching as a career to make a difference in students. My favorite teacher in high school made an impression on me and inspired me as a young person. He took the time to care and show me encouragement and believed in me that helped me to become a teacher today. I could make more money in another profession, but no other job could give me the satisfaction or success today as teaching. Make an appointment and visit your local school district and see what teachers do if you don't believe we work for a living. I hope that we turn out good taxpaying citizens that are hopefully paying your retirement someday.

I would like to speak out about your sports department. All you ever worry about is your local city Bulldogs. I am a loyal subscriber to your paper, just got my Sunday edition and the headline in the sports section, "Dogs run into kryptonite," front page sports section, as usual. Get with the program. You don't even have a word about our Bulldogs, that's Portageville Bulldogs, over Malden Greenwave Friday night. We get very little coverage up there. What's going to be on the headlines next weekend when Sikeston Bulldogs come down and visit our Portageville Bulldogs in our dog pound? I want to know what kind of coverage you're gonna have then when we beat your rear ends. Get with the program, boys. Next time you predict a game, make sure you know what's going on. You guys need to get with it. I see two of you picked Portageville over Malden out of six. Nobody picked them the week before, and we skunked them then, too. Put this in SpeakOut if you have the backbone to do it.

Sikeston is our first priority in coverage because that is where our most subscribers live. We have covered over half of Portageville's games in person and we rely on coaches to call in results of games that our staff cannot attend. With a staff of three sports writers, it's not practical or possible to cover every game in the area in person.
