Restitution of missing funds made
CHAFFEE -- City officials have decided to accept restitution and the resignation of the city court clerk in lieu of continuing to support a criminal investigation into missing bond money.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol had been investigating an allegation that the city court clerk, Robin Dannemueller, 36, had misappropriated $1,000 in bond money from the city court.
Before the investigation's final report was issued, Dannenmueller reportedly made full restitution by remitting the missing money and subsequently resigning her position.
According to reports on Jan. 17, Dannenmueller deposited the $1,000 and forwarded it to Cape Girardeau. She then resigned on Jan. 20.
Dannemueller had been the city court clerk "for at least two years," according to Police Chief Jeff Womack. "She was the clerk when I came here."
Scott County Prosecutor Paul Boyd was advised by the Chaffee city officials of their decision not to support the criminal investigation resulting in the termination of the investigation in light of a Chaffee city "internal decision to accept the restitution and resignation of the city court clerk." he said Tuesday.
The prosecutor's office then forwarded this information to the Patrol which terminated the investigation so its law enforcement resources could be dedicated to other pressing criminal investigations.
