Nelda Benson

ABILENE, Texas - Nelda D. Benson, 56, died Oct. 8, 2007, at a medical center in Abilene.

Born June 14, 1951, in Sikeston, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Genevieve Huls and Matthew Beamon Lewis. She moved from Sikeston to Abilene 21 years ago and was self-employed as an independent insurance agent, having previously worked for Cellular One. She was a member of Wyndrock Missionary Baptist Church.

On March 26, 1988, in Abilene, she married James Benson, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Tina Marie Fuwell of Bloomfield, Mo.; one stepson, Wes Benson of Abilene; one stepdaughter, Ginger Benson of Fort Worth; one sister, Teresa Guiling of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Taylor Rae Fuwell and Morgan Marie Fuwell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Katie Huls.

Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, in Abilene, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Burial will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
