Speakout 3/15

Wednesday, March 15, 2006

I can't stand by any longer and let the people of Southeast Missouri think the people of Oran are criminals, drug users, alcoholics and lawless people. We are not. I will give you the facts and the truth and you decide for yourself. I know these business owners. They are not liars when they say their business is off 20 to 25 percent. It's the truth. When you have a mayor and chief of police that takes the Oran police car to Sikeston and has $3,500 worth of work done on it when we have three garages in Oran. They done this without taking bids. They also don't buy gas in Oran. They had almost $2,000 worth of work done on the heating and air conditioning unit in city hall by a company from Marble Hill. No bids on it either. We have Rampley's Heating and Air Conditioning in Oran. If the City of Oran doesn't help its own businesses in Oran, that's no good.

So let me get this straight. You bought an oven, you got it home and it was dirty. You didn't have the common sense to check it out before you bought it? Now you're complaining because it was dirty? Something doesn't add up here.

I'm calling regarding the Tattoo and a Bud Light. This person's reference regarding people with a debit card, what do tattoos have to do with anything? I know a lot of high powered attorneys and politicians who have tattoos. Tattoos are not a reference to what people do. You might want to check your local government on this fact. As far as Bud Light goes, there are a lot of people that drink Bud Light. You might want to ask Mr. Bill Clinton about that and his cigars. Quit judging people.

I'd like to know what USS Transportation is? I see this all the time over here in the elderly housing. I'd like to know what that is.

I couldn't help but laugh when I was reading my Wednesday paper today about the people that didn't know the name of the unofficial streets and things. It could be because Mr. Burton hasn't given them a name when he did 911. We live at Diehlstadt. He gave us a street number, but according to him, we live in Charleston. So if some of us have a heart attack, they will be looking all over Charleston for our street number.

This is in response to the businesses not showing support to the local basketball team going to state. We don't have to change our world because the basketball team is doing great. We support them. Our business goes on. I don't have to put a billboard in my frontyard to be a booster or a supporter. We don't even have to have kids in school. So don't think we don't support these children. These comments we're a little off balance.
