SIKESTON -- Cecil Adams, 77, died Nov. 27, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born April 3, 1929, in Lake City, Ark., son of the late William H. and Sudie D. Turner Adams, he was the founder of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston and for 16 years had served as pastor of Matthews Missionary Baptist Church.

On Oct. 21, 1950, in Bay, Ark., he married Vernell Savage who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons, Eugene Adams of Sikeston and David Adams of Dexter; one daughter, Marsha Davis of Sikeston; one brother, George Adams of St. Louis; two sisters, Wilma Hamilton of Bay and Opal Shaw of Vilonia, Ark.; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and one great-

granddaughter.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. Jeff Polk and Chris Polk of Matthews will officiate.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Jason Davis, Jody Adams, Lonnie Polk, Brian Adams, Cherik Griffin and Tim Bitter.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Danny Staggs, Ray McCoy, Howard Atwell and Kenneth Duvall.
