Those who live in glass houses

I'm calling about the school shooting they had down in Tennessee. They buried the superintendent today. My sympathy goes out to that family, but on the other hand, where in the world were his parents when he was growing up? Did they not teach him that guns were not a toy? And also, where were the teachers at? Sitting in the teacher's lounge drinking coffee? Nothing is done until something like this happens and everybody gets into the game of it. I really sorry for this boy and my condolences goes out to his family. I'm sure he didn't mean to do it. But, I'm sure he has a reason that he did it. Probably, because someone was bullying him around. These kids do get tormented and nothing ever gets done until something like this happens. They think this child should be punished, but there are others who need to be punished before otherwise, this child wouldn't be taking a gun to school to begin with.

The dog that was found by Ag Mart has a home. It has been adopted.

So they give veterans a day. Yay. They do nothing else for them. My father served over 20 years in the Army and was promised full dental care and glasses. He served in Viet Nam and Korea. After retiring, he has been denied these things. He was exposed to agent orange during Viet Nam. It will take an act of Congress to get any help from them and he will more than likely be dead before we are able to accomplish this. He has had open heart surgery and needs to have oral surgery. He needs to have dentures and Medicare will not pay for it and neither will his insurance because it's dental related. The military won't pay for it and Medicare won't pay for it. We have tried to get help from all over. His dentist Dr. Nast, who is a saint, has worked hard on this to help us. We've contacted our Senators, we've contacted JoAnn Emerson, we've contacted Washington and we cannot get any help. What do you do when someone has served their country and can not get any help? If someone has an answer, please let me know.

This is for the comment about Wendell Apartments. I am a homemaker for a client at Wendell. First of all, the tenants are there to live as they choose. It is not a nursing home where somebody has to babysit all hours of the day and the night. I guess you figure the person in the office is not entitled to vacation or time off. She does have two other apartment complexes in the Sikeston area to take care of. The residents in Wendell Apartments are in better hands than they have been in years. So if you want to start some trouble, or create rumors, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Can the city tell us what's going in at the old Essex Electric building?

Yes, they can, but we already did. According to a front-page Standard Democrat news story which ran Oct. 13, Heritage American Homes, a division of Patriot Homes Inc., is currently using about 40,000 square feet at the former Essex building free of charge. Heritage American Homes is using the space to store materials needed to fulfill a large contract by the Federal Emergency to help produce FEMA's temporary housing units. As the former Essex building has almost 200,000 square feet, additional opportunities remain open there. Scott County Commissioner Dennis Ziegenhorn first suggested making the Essex building available for business from the Gulf Coast area displaced by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The Republicans are so efficient. It took them only 10 years in power to become as corrupt as the Democrats were after 40 years in control.
