Two children hurt in ATV accident

CHARLESTON -- A 7-year-old and a 3-year-old were seriously injured after being ejected from a four-wheeler Saturday in Mississippi County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at 5:30 p.m. on County Road 401, three miles southwest of Charleston, an accident occurred as Lucas E. Hurley, 7, of Cape Girardeau was operating an all-terrain vehicle and lost control. The ATV overturned and ejected both Hurley and his 3-year-old passenger, Gabriel A. Hurley, 3, of Cape Girardeau.
Both children were seriously injured. Lucas was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau; Gabriel was air evacuated to Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
