Your view: Terrorism's threats

Wednesday, November 30, 2005

During the Vietnam war, the media was showing all the bad that was happening and none of the good our troops were doing. The Department of Defense formed five combat motion picture teams (2 Army, 1 Marine, 1 Air Force and 1 Navy). I was an enlisted photographer and assigned as the first cameraman on the little five man Navy team. We went all over the country of Vietnam documenting much of the good we were doing as well as our troops in combat. The Media used very little of our footage, but some. I fault the media, Hollywood and the democratic congress for their aiding the morale of the communists and the Viet Cong for the loss.

That said: the media and the democrats in congress are doing the very best they can to cause us to turn tail and run again. Vietnam was the first war America ever lost. It is apparent to me and to many of our troops that the same people and organizations are attempting to cause us to lose another war.

This is war. America is at war and we all need to get behind our troops, give them the morale boosts they need and start publishing the good such as the girls can now go to school. Freedom is at stake. Remember, Germany didn't attack us, Korea didn't attack us.

NOW remember.

When did the terrorist threat to us start? Many will say Sept. 11, 2001. The answer as far as the United States is concerned is 1979, 22 years prior to Sept. 2001, with the following attacks on us: Iran Embassy Hostages 1979; Beirut, Lebanon Embassy 1983; Beirut, Lebanon Marine Barracks 1983; Lockerbie, Scotland Pan-Am flight to New York 1988; First New York World Trade Center attack 1993; Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Khobar Towers Military complex, 1996; Nairobi, Kenya US Embassy 1998; Dares Salaam, Tanzania US Embassy 1998; Aden, Yemen USS Cole 2000; New York World Trade Center 2001; Pentagon 2001.
