FREDERICKTOWN -- The long season for the East Prairie Eagles continued Saturday afternoon as the Eagles fell to 0-5 with a 49-0 loss to Fredericktown.

The Eagle offense could manage only three first downs and turned the ball over four times as the Blackcat defense held East Prairie to 126 yards.

While the Eagle offense struggled, Fredericktown's did not. The Blackcats racked up almost 600 yards in total offense earning over 400 on the ground.

Fredericktown's Ryan Sawyer started the scoring in the first quarter on an 18-

yard touchdown run. After a fumble on the kickoff, Sawyer rumbled 36 yards for his second score, giving the the Blackcats a 14-0 lead. Sawyer finished the game with 222 yards.

Fredericktown continued their dominance in the second quarter, scoring when David Penwell crashed across the goal line from one yard out. Penwell scored again just before half on a 9-yard pass from quarterback Nathan Wilkerson and the Blackcats led 28-0 at half.

Sawyer opened the scoring in the third quarter when he scored on an 82-yard run as Fredericktown began substituting freely. Nick Franks scored on a 2-yard run in the third quarter and Brylan Moore finished the scoring in the fourth quarter when he scored from 45 yards out.

East Prairie's M.C. Williams finished the game with 37 yards on the ground.
