One man, four youths injured in accident

MORLEY -- Four Sikeston youths and a Bloomfield man received injuries in a car accident Friday evening.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:55 p.m. on U.S. Highway 61 five miles south of Morley when the southbound vehicle driven by Charles E. Sexton, 62, of Sikeston, struck the pickup driven by Steven A. Harbison, 54, of Bloomfield, which was in the southbound lane waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway, ejecting a passenger from the pickup's bed, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol's crash report.

All five occupants of the pickup truck were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Brianna N. Draper, 10; John E. Draper, 15; and Brook L. Sprinkles, 13; all of Sikeston, were all taken by Air Evac to the hospital for serious injuries.

Harbison and Brittany L. Sprinkles, 15, of Sikeston, were taken by ambulance for moderate injuries.

Sexton was charged with DWI persistent offender, driving while revoked and five counts of second degree vehicular assault.
