CHARLESTON -- The Charleston Bluejays basketball team won in impressive and quick fashion Friday night over the Caruthersville Tigers, 93-32, with the mercy clock running the entire fourth quarter.

The Bluejays started out hot and never looked back with big performances from Brian Parham, Donald Dixon and Antonio Riggens.

"I knew they (Caruthersville) were a little down going into the game," Charleston head coach Danny Farmer said. "We were only concerned with how we played tonight. The effort was there."

Parham, who scored 19 points, electrified the crowd before the end of the first half, with back-to-back off-the glass dunks with the aid of his teammates.

"That was very exciting," Farmer said, adding that it really got the crowd fired up.

Charleston led Caruthersville at the break, 54-19.

Dixon added 19 points, while Riggens cashed in for 18 points, including two three-pointers.

Deonte Jones also had 15 points in the win, and Jerquawn Sherrell hit two three-pointers to accumulate 10 points for the Bluejays.

The Bluejays also saw a significant performance from the bench players who came in and scored another 39 points in the second half.

With the win, the Bluejays improve to 7-1 on the season.

Farmer had a chance to give his starters a rest on Friday night, which he said was a blessing for his squad, since they were scheduled to play in the Heartland Hoopfest on Saturday.

"That's what we wanted," Farmer said. "We got them a little breather (tonight)."

The Tigers' Deandre Motton had 10 points in the loss, while Rakeem Sanders added nine.

The Bluejays were 10-for-15 at the line, while Caruthersville went 3-for-4.

Charleston was scheduled to play Borgia on Saturday at the Heartland Hoopfest in Perryville. Results will be in Monday's paper.
