CHARLESTON - Mary C. Brown Hayes, 69, died July 9, 2007, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born July 24, 1937, at Charleston, to the late Walter F. and Beulah L. Moore Brown, she lived in Charleston most of her life where she was employed as a bookkeeper with Bootheel Tractor Company, Simmons Equipment Company, Cross Truck Stop and most recently the Mid-Valley Irrigation Company for a number of years until her retirement. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and of the Baptist belief.

Surviving are: one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Dianne and Clay Dugan of rural Charleston; two grandsons, John K. Dugan and David E. Dugan of rural Charleston and a number of nephews and nieces including one special niece, Debbie Brown Phillips of Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by one son, Scott Emanuel Hayes, and three brothers, Willis F. "Dub" Brown, Roy T. Brown and Delbert M. Brown.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Thursday until time for services at 1 p.m. at the McMikle Funeral Home. Bill Bradley, minister with the Morley Church of Christ, will officiate.

Burial will follow.
