CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Simon John Bisher 84, died March 27, 2007, at his home.

Born April 4, 1922, near Oran, son of the late Joseph and Annie Baudendistel Bisher, he attended Caney School and worked on the family farm in Caney. He served in World War II in the South Philippines, Luzon and Bismarck-Archipelago battle campaigns from October 1942 to November 1945. He worked on a towboat on the Mississippi River for several years before going to work for 32 years at the Marquette Lonestar Cement Company from which he retired in 1984. He was a member of VFW Post 3838 and St. Vincent DePaul Church in Cape Girardeau and attended Guardian Angel Church in Oran.

On June 17, 1950, at Oran, he married Rosemarian Obermann who preceded him in death on October 20, 1983.

One brother, Earl Bisher, and one sister, Rita Witges, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Alan Bisher and David and Jennifer Bisher of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Joe Bisher of St. Louis and Ferdinand Bisher of Saxton, Penn.; and two grandchildren, Mariel Rose and Pierce Allen Bisher.

Visitation is from 4--8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home with a scripture service and rosary at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Angel Church in Oran with the Rev. John Harth serving as celebrant.

Burial with full military honors will follow at Cape County Memorial Park.
