SIKESTON - Letha Hurt pointed the way for her Doberman, Shadow, to face. But the obedience school student seemed more interested in Scooter, Suzette Morrison's poodle. The dogs and their owners have been part of an eight-

week course sponsored by Sikeston Adult Education and taught by J. Diane Coleman, co-owner of The Animal House in Charleston.

SIKESTON - Duane DeCota makes light of his work. But joking aside, he couldn't be prouder of the honor bestowed on him and his business, DeCota Electric Supply, as the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce's Small Business of the Year.


NEW MADRID - Members of the New Madrid County Central Quiz Bowl team which attended the State 3A tournament, bringing home the second place trophy, were: Tommy Eiceman, Lisa Hale, Bill Keen, Carrie Miller, Matt Hampton, David Lloyd, Bill Fix, Latham Hunter, Tony Resonno and Terry McCoy.


ORAN - The sixth grade students at Oran Public Schools completed the DARE program recently. The Oran PTO provided T-shirts for the 30 participants. The students wrote essays as part of their classwork. Winner in the contest were Alicia Webb, Ryne Wood and Jessica Prino. Tyler Cookson was also honored for his work.
