Your view: Way to walk!
Blair Moran and Skip Green were "charter walkers" for the recent first annual Sikeston Kiwanis Walk-A-Thon, an event designed to promote walking as an aid to better fitness and health.
Participants walked a one mile route at the Sikeston Recreation Complex and received a T-shirt commemorating the day, along with complimentary water bottles and snacks. Pre-walk exercises were demonstrated by Laura Reiminger of MDMC's Restart program.
Kiwanis want to thank the supporters and sponsors of the Walk-A-Thon, who helped make the event successful. They are: Southern Missouri Bank, First State Bank, Montgomery Bank, Alliance Bank, Atmos Energy, the American Legion and Missouri Delta Medical C enter.
The City of Sikeston and Parks Director Jiggs Moore were especially helpful and cooperative during the planning and organization of the event. The community's citizens who turned out on a very cold and windy morning are to be commended for their interest and participation as well.
Kiwanis hope that everyone will see the benefits of daily exercise, walking being a pleasurable and adaptable means of keeping fit and healthy.
