BLOOMFIELD - Donald Layton, 68, died May 23, 2007, at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born March 16, 1939, in Bloomfield, son of the late Riley C. and Dollie Johnson Layton, he was a former truck driver for Busy B Lumber Company in Dexter for many years.

On Dec. 23, 1960, in Dexter, he married Pansy Fleetwood, who preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 1998. On March 3, 2003, in Bloomfield, he married Dorothy Waltz, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include one son, Donnie Layton of Dexter; two daughters, Joan Layton and Lisa Bien, both of Dexter; one brother, Marvin Layton of Dexter; five sisters, Helen Patton of Brighton, Ill., Rosina Hartline, Verda Mae Allstun, and Myrtle Lee Allstun, all from Dexter and Vivian Campoy of Irmo, S.C.; and four grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Layton and James Layton; and one sister, Jolene Layton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Steve Fitzpatrick will officiate.

Burial will follow at the Link Cemetery in rural Bloomfield.
