I was watching CNN News today and the unemployment rate is 4.8 percent. I'm so sick and tired of hearing about the unemployment rate. If they would put these people that are on welfare, these healthy people that are too lazy to work that's letting the state take care of them, if they would put this on the unemployment rate, the unemployment rate would probably be 32 or 37 percent. And the deadbeat fathers who aren't paying child support. They're not responsible for no medical. They are taken care of. They get welfare checks, ADC, all the benefits. The working people are losing their jobs by the thousands. When unemployment insurance runs out they can't get any help. They're losing their homes. They're losing everything. I'm so tired of hearing about 4.8 percent unemployment. These people that are healthy to work, and won't work, they're getting all the benefits, everything a working family cannot afford.

I'm sure a lot of Americans have this same question. If I could question Hillary Clinton about one thing, I would ask her, "Have you been over your menopause? Have you reached menopause?" And that would be the one question I would ask.

I would like to say officers of Sikeston Public Safety treated Charleston people in the Sikeston-Charleston game dirty. They accused people of smoking weed and kicked them out of the game after they paid their money. They should have been refunded their money. I think this is racism. They came to watch the game, not get harassed. I think Sikeston School District needs to look into this. I will never go to another Sikeston-Charleston game. Sikeston people don't get treated like that when they come to a Charleston game.

We contacted Sikeston Public Safety with your comments. Their reply: We have a very proactive approach when it comes to attacking the drug problem in and around our community and around our school system. If people are using or consuming narcotics in and around the schools, or at school events, they will be dealt with very harshly and they will be removed. As far as refunding the money, this is certainly out of the control of Sikeston DPS and should be an issue that is taken up with Sikeston Public Schools. This has nothing to do with racism. This has to do with criminal activity. This has to do with the use of illegal narcotics, or the alleged use of those narcotics. This is not harassment. This is proactive policing, which is what we have done for a number of years and we will continue to do. It is the goal of Sikeston Public Safety to make our community the safest and best community in Southeast Missouri. If you choose not to come here and enjoy our community, then that is certainly your choice.

In response to Get into the Word. "Their self?" Is that a word or almost a word? I hear it around here a lot. It's almost as bad as "has went", "has drank" and "we sung". I am not perfect in my grammar, either, but, gosh! "their self? " Give me a break! That was a pretty good article until I hit "their self". It's as jarring as scraping your fingernail on a blackboard!

I was just reading Your view in the Jan. 3 paper from the person that is stationed in Iraq right now. I was wondering if he left an email address so we could email him back. He seemed like a very nice man and I figured it would help him to hear from people here in Missouri where he used to live.
