Letter to the Editor

Your view: Stance applauded

Thursday, April 5, 2007

You are due commendation for the aggressive position displayed in defense of government and political science instruction in the public schools, as evidenced by the editorial of March 27.

The spirits of Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Jackson and Lincoln must be twisting in the wind with the turn taken by the administration in its education program.

Physical science, math and English are essential, but not at the expense of freedom and study of the pathway that brought the "First Great Experiment in Democracy" to its current level. Only study and commitment can keep us moving toward perfection.

Respectfully yours,

Bill D. Burlison
