Ettie Townsend

BENTON, Ark. - Ettie Gladys Townsend, 92, died Aug. 4, 2006, in Benton.

Born Jan. 18, 1914, in Puxico, Mo., daughter of the late Ralph and Bertie Crabb Spear, she lived most of her life in the Puxico area before moving several years ago to Benton.

On July 24, 1934, in Puxico, she married Orville Townsend, who preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1969.

One son, Harold Spear, and one sister, Lois Townsend, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: three daughters, Orvilla June Altis and Joyce Moore of Puxico and Rita Mantel of Matthews; two brothers, Elmer Spear of Puxico and Harrison Spear of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Freida Null of Matthews; 25 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Private burial will be in the Fagan Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
