Celebration will mark 50 years of marriage

GRASSY -- Mr. and Mrs. Richard N. Smith will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. April 1 during a reception at the Circle S Ranch, HCR 64 Road 702, in Grassy.

Smith, a lifelong candy salesmen, affectionately known as the "Candyman," and the former Julia E. Cash were married March 25, 1956, in Greenville, Miss.

Smith is the son of the late Wesley R. and Minnie A. Smith, and he attended high school in Sikeston. Mrs. Smith is originally from West Monroe, La.

The Smiths have run Circle S Ranch in Grassy for over 50 years. They are former residents of Whitestown, Ind., and now reside at the Circle S Ranch. Smith was the owner/salesman of Quest Confectionery Brokerage, and Mrs. Smith retired after teaching for over 30 years.

The couple are the parents of six children: Sovilla (Mrs. Gerald) Mennen of Kirklin, Ind., Nancy Kincaid of Eminence, Ind.; Julia Smith of Wheeling, W.Va.; Martha (Mrs. Andrew) Laka of Wauconda, Ill., and Richard J.E. and Robert J.M. Smith of Lebanon, Ind.; and grandparents of 15 grandchildren. All of their children are graduates of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.

The family invites all friends, relatives and acquaintances to share in the upcoming celebration.
