Oran blows through Risco; Saxony downs Scott City

RISCO -- The Oran Eagles' superior experience, height and depth proved too much for the Risco Tigers in an 82-52 win on Tuesday.

The Eagles (4-1) opened a 55-32 halftime lead, then cruised to victory over the Tigers (0-3).

Robert Lange led the Eagles with 21, Steven Dooley added 12 and Hunter Glastetter 10.

Ricky Davis scored 17 and Kyle White 13 to pace Risco.

Oran hosts Scott City and Risco travels to Bernie for Friday night matchups. Risco won the junior varsity matchup 67-53 over the Oran J.V.

The Saxony Lutheran boys basketball team used a big second quarter to ruin Scott City's season opener Tuesday night with an 80-67 victory.

The Crusaders outscored the host Rams 33-18 in the second period to erase a 14-9 first-quarter deficit and go up 42-32 at halftime.

Alex Jauch led the Crusaders (2-0) with 25 points. Ben Courtois added 14, followed by Max Wieser with 13, Clay Obergoenner with 11 and Brett Steffens with 10.

The Rams received 19 points from Jamie Pinkston. Jay Simmons had 14, Ethan Watkins 12 and Alex King 10.

Scott City won the junior varsity matchup 46-37 over Saxony's J.V. team.

Nathan Stroder scored 18 points, while Tyler Martin and Alex Parks both had 15, as Delta (2-2) won at home.

Garrett White paced Oak Ridge with 18 points, followed by Dylan Abbott with 13.

Delta won the junior varsity game 68-41 against the Oak Ridge jayvee.

Leopold won a shootout at Woodland as the teams combined to hit 25 3-

pointers.

The Wildcats (3-2) made 12 3-pointers, including six from Darren VanGennip, who scored 29 points. Matt Stoverink scored 19 points, followed by Eric Fluchel with 16 and Tyler Clubb with 12.

Seth Gaines nailed eight of the Cardinals? 13 3-pointers and poured in 33 points. Also for Woodland, Chad Gaines scored 18 points and Michael Dowd had 11.
